On Saturday, 27 September, Monte delle Vigne transformed into an exceptional stage for enthusiasts of motors and automotive history. In the heart of the Parma Hills, the vintage cars taking part in the historic Parma – Poggio di Berceto rally made a memorable pit stop, greeted by the warmth of the crowd and the hospitality of the winery.
Hosting the event was Gianfranco Bertei, president of the Scuderia Parma Auto Storiche, who chose to honour the drivers with two symbols of the territory: a bottle of sparkling RioValli and one of Primavera, flagship wines of our winery and true ambassadors of the region. A gesture that celebrated the meeting of wine culture and the passion for motors—two Emilian excellences that share the same dedication to quality.
The event was more than just a convivial moment: it represented a living connection to the historic memory of a race that has become legendary. The Parma – Poggio di Berceto rally entered the annals of history as the first race driven by Enzo Ferrari on 5 October 1919. At just twenty-one, the future founder of the Prancing Horse took the wheel of a CMN (Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali) car, finishing eleventh overall and fourth in his category. A debut that marked the beginning of a career destined to forever change the history of motorsport.
The race, first held in 1913, is considered one of the oldest and most captivating in Italy. Today, in its commemorative form, it retains all the charm of its early days, offering enthusiasts the chance to relive the thrills of a pioneering era, when mountain roads became stages of courage and innovation.
The pit stop at Monte delle Vigne, featuring a tasting of our wines paired with Prosciutto di Parma sliced on a manual Berkel by master butchers, thus brought together sporting history and winemaking tradition in an event that celebrated the identity of the Parma territory and its ability to unite history, culture, and enterprise.
