"After 100 years from the birth of Maria Callas, the iconic Malvasia of Monte delle Vigne - "Callas" - obtained the 3 glasses of Gambero Rosso for the fourth time"
To celebrate this great goal, we made it the preeminent figure of an exclusive lunch into a timeless vertical line: a selection of four representative years of Callas path, combining it to Massimiliano Poggi Cucina courses, contemporary chef in Bologna.
“Callas is the summary of how Aromatic Malvasia of Candia expresses in its chosen area.” The vineyards from which Callas is produced are more than 60 years old and they grow on calcareous-clay soils, at 315 meters a.s.l. Grapes are selected and hand-harvested; the 30% of the total mass macerates on peels for 6 months inside terracotta amphoras, while the remaining part vinifies in steel tanks to highlight flowers and aromatic herbs aromas ( mint ). The right period of refining in bottle gives back coherence to the wine, according to the aromatic vine variety and to the soil.
“Callas between countryside and essence” is the name given by the chef together with the marketing team of Monte delle Vigne to the menu of this unique tasting, which connected the iconic courses of Massimiliano Poggi Cucina with, as said above, a vertical line of four special vintages of “Callas”, the first still white wine realized in the province of Parma: 2020, 2017, 2011 and 2008. “The ‘countryside’ from which the chef gets its exceptional ingredients is close to our philosophy of contemporary Parma winemakers, so connected with the Colli di Parma area. While, for me, the “essence” is the entire team of Monte delle Vigne, from the vineyards men, to the men who works into the cellar, to the office workers, the business men, until our representatives”, these are the welcome words by Lorenzo Numanti, Chief Executive Officer of Monte delle Vigne.
A special lunch, passed through Callas’ friends – restaurant and wine shop owners, influencers and real aficionados – and made possible thanks to the professionality of the maître Elisa Paganelli and to the passion of Federico Fernus , ambassador of Monte delle Vigne from many years.
